πͺ π - Mass flow model for gases in high pressure range

For many decades now, valves have been designed using the π² π½ value . This article shows the development path from the π² π½ value for water and gases to the πͺ, π model for gases, which is already used with real gas data for high pressure hydrogen applications . Results indicate that the πͺ, π model is more suitable than the π² π½ value when it comes to gases, in particular for describing mass flow through a valve with gaseous hydrogen. The πͺ, π values are also beneficial for system simulation and for the design of complete systems, e.g. refueling stations for hydrogen car or buses.
